RICHMOND, Va. - VCU Volleyball has signed versatile freshman Paula Neciporuka (Kuldiga, Latvia) to join the Rams for the 2017-18 season.

"Paula comes from a wealth of international experience both as an attacker and libero," said VCU Head Coach Jody Rogers. "Her ability to play multiple positions will enable her to contribute immediately in 2017."
The 5-foot-8 Neciporuka joins the Rams following an extensive career in her native country. She was the captain of the U17, U19 and U20 Latvian Indoor National squads and led her teams to multiple championship appearances, as well a win in the 2015 National Championship.
Neciporuka is also an accomplished beach volleyball player. She finished fifth in the World U19 Beach Volleyball Championship in 2016 and won the European U18 Beach Volleyball Championship in 2015.
"I am excited to see her grow as a person, student-athlete, and Ram," Rogers said.
The versatile Neciporuka joins an experienced VCU squad that finished 19-14 last season and returns six starters.
