GAME NOTES

  • VCU enters the 2019-20 with high expectations. The Rams are currently listed 26th in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll and the USA Today/Coaches Poll. VCU, which returns four starters and eight of its top nine scorers from last season, was selected first in the Atlantic 10 Conference's Preseason Poll by league coaches and media. The Rams return 88.9 percent of their scoring from last year's 25-8 team that won the A-10 regular season crown and reached the NCAA Tournament

  • Last time out: Five Rams scored in double figures and VCU forced 26 turnovers in an 84-82 win over 23rd-ranked LSU on Nov. 13 at the Siegel Center. The game marked the return of former VCU Coach Will Wade, who led the program from 2015-17

  • VCU's 26 forced turnovers were its most since the Rams recorded 26 against Bowling Green on Nov. 12, 2018

  • The Rams are forcing an average of 21.0 turnovers in three games this season. VCU opponents have turned the ball over on 29.1 percent of their possessions, which ranks 10th in the country

  • VCU is expecting a sellout crowd today, which would extend the Rams' sellout streak to 138 games]

  • VCU has won 14 consecutive home games dating back to last season

  • Junior forward Marcus Santos-Silva has registered two double-doubles in three games this season

  • No program has won more games in A-10 play than VCU since the Rams joined the league for the 2012-13 campaign. VCU is 89-33 in conference play over that span, a .730 winning percentage.

  • VCU tied program records for regular season victories (25) and conference wins (16) in 2018-19

  • VCU's success last season was driven heavily by its nationally ranked defense. The Rams ranked seventh nationally in adjusted defensive efficiency (89.5), third in effective field goal defense (.435), second in 3-point field goal defense (.285) and eighth in turnover percentage (23.5)
